The northern loop
Start early with the chauffeur — the northern loop strings three distilleries across the Midlands, where the barley actually grows. The drive is half the pleasure: hedgerows, stone bridges and skies that make the whisky make sense.

The close-in three
Two craft distilleries sit within twenty minutes of the hotel, and a third hides in a converted jam factory on the harbour. Do these second — palate fresh-ish, notes compared against the morning's drams.
The jam-factory cellar door pours limited cask-strength releases that never leave the state; our bar keeps two of them precisely because of this trip.
